Campos de Golf Don Cayo

Don Cayo Golf Club was founded in 1974 by Luis Campomanes Asumendi in the residential complex "El Aramo", at the foot of the Sierra Bernia mountains. It is located in the municipality of Altea, a beautiful Mediterranean city with sunny skies. The course was designed by Gregorio Sanz and Pedro Barber in 1976.

This golf course has 9 holes and is a par 72, characterized by:

  • 3,078 metres from the white bars
  • It combines very difficult holes (hole 5 is a par 5 measuring 580 metres and hole 6 is a par 2 measuring 227 metres on an upslope) with recovering holes that nonetheless require precision for placing the ball in the fairway.
  • Players often like hole 3, with views of the sea, and hole 7 where they can see mountains surrounding the Baixa Marina.
  • The course is generally narrow and combines long and short fairways.
  • One May 11, 2006 a new configuration of the course was inaugurated offering a 9-hole course with two completely different rounds (18 tees).
  • The layout of the fairways is very diversified because of the natural features of this area.
  • An abundant line of trees is a constant threat on both sides of the fairway.
  • The majority of the greens are small and require great precision.
  • This course lacks lakes and excessive bunkers.
  • Every hole requires skill to place the ball in the fairway while avoiding many bordering trees.
